It is recommended to remove the removable parts of the barbecue to facilitate cleaning.

First you must disassemble the parts of the barbecue that can be separated. This makes it easier to clean the grill and other parts that are often dirty and greasy after use.

  • At this point, be sure to use a wire brush or wire sponge to remove any charred or greasy food residue from the grill surface.

2. Use a degreasing product

In this step you have two options: buy a powerful fat remover those sold in the market or prepare your own degreaser with natural ingredients. Both options will be essential to make the grid and the other parts as new.

  • If you choose a homemade degreaser, do so by combining a cup of baking soda (200g) with the juice of a lemon.
  • After obtaining a thick paste, rub it on the grid with the help of a brush or sponge.
  • Let it act for about 10 minutes and finally remove the residue with a damp cloth.

3. Clean a barbecue with onions

One of the most popular tricks when cleaning a grill is to use onions. Although at first it may seem a little strange, this ingredient is actually very useful in preventing any fat or food residue from sticking to the grill.

  • You’ll just need to cut the onion into pieces and place it on the hot grill racks.
  • If you want, you can use the barbecue tongs or tongs as an aid to rub the onion on the grill surface.

4. Soak in hot water

Both the grill and the other removable elements of the barbecue can be immersed in hot water after using the degreaser. What is this for? … Well, it completely removes degreaser residues, food or any dirt that may be there.

5. Remove ashes from the barbecue

After you’ve removed the grease and debris from the removable elements, it’s time to remove the ash remnants from the bottom of the grill. Remember to keep in mind that it is easier to clean them with a brush right after the grill is turned off.

However, if leftovers remain at the bottom, you can use hot water, a metal brush and, if necessary, some dishwashing soap .

  • First, pour hot water on the barbecue, after a while off.
  • Soon after, let it act for about 15 minutes and discard the water.
  • Afterwards, pour in warm water and remove the remains of ash with a metal brush.
  • Finally, apply some dishwashing soap, scrub with a brush and rinse.

Want to clean a grill expressly?

Finally, we’ve already seen the steps to perfectly clean a grill. However, if you only have time to do a quick or “express” clean, consider the following:

  • First, wait for the grill to cool down a bit and then remove the grill.
  • Then, when the ashes are well off, remove them with a brush.
  • Using a brush or metal sponge, scrub the grill grill and lower grill tray.
